Confetti | Arup | Bristol, UK
2024
A two-part curved fresco mural (concave/ convex) for Arup, in the EQ building in Bristol. Created in partnership with the charity Frank Water.
The fresco is sweetly coloured, buoyant and joyful; referencing the history of confetti: small Italian sweets, thrown jubilantly at celebrations and gatherings. Its palette, composition and mark-making reflect the watery movements of gathered people and falling pieces of confetti.
On shaped walls, the mural also speaks to the essence of Arup, in its unity and positivity, and the etymological root of ‘confetti’ which stems from the Latin ‘conficere’ / ‘conficio,’ meaning to confect, compose, make, or bring together. A fitting reflection of Aster Muro’s shaping of raw material into feeling and art, and Arup’s work in shaping built environments and communities.
